March is all about women making moves—whether it’s closing deals, leading teams, or rewriting the rules of sales. With International Women’s Day (March 8) and Women’s History Month in full swing, let’s take a minute to celebrate the powerhouse women in sales who are making it happen.

History You Should Know

History in the Making – Did you know that in the early 1900s, sales was one of the few professions where women could succeed financially? Pioneers like Brownie Wise, who built Tupperware into a household name, paved the way for women in sales today.

👠 The Stats We Can’t Ignore

📊 Women hold only 29% of B2B sales roles, yet outperform men by 5% in quota (LinkedIn).

📊 Sales teams led by women exceed revenue targets by 15%, but only 19% of sales leadership roles are held by women (Gartner).

📊 The solution? More women in sales. More businesses recognizing what we already know: women sell, lead, and win.

OG Women Who Paved The Way

Before women were seen as sales leaders, these two pioneers changed the game:

🔥 Estée Lauder – A relationship-driven sales powerhouse, she convinced department store executives to carry her brand when women weren’t even seen as business leaders. She introduced free samples (now a key B2B sales strategy) and built long-term B2B partnerships that transformed luxury retail.

🔥 Mary Kay Ash – After being passed over for a promotion in favor of a man she trained, she revolutionized relationship-based selling, showing that sales is about personal connection and trust—principles that are now core to B2B sales success.

She believed, “Pretend that every single person you meet has a sign around their neck that says, ‘Make me feel important.’”—a lesson every great salesperson should follow.

Push for More Women in Leadership – Whether you’re mentoring, hiring, or just making space—be the one who makes it happen.

Call Out the Double Standards – If women are outperforming men in sales, why aren’t they in more leadership roles? Let’s change that.

The bottom line? Women in sales aren’t just thriving—they’re dominating. And we’re just getting started.
